We will also be looking to explain the different aspects of how the brain is affected by addiction and trauma.

4/14 Effects of Addiction: The Family- This lesson will cover the different sides of addiction within the family in a discussion style lesson. We will be covering different familial roles we assume with a family member during dysfunctional periods and discussing the purpose of a functional family, while also pushing our attendees to take a hard look at the possible dysfunction in their family of origin as well. We will also hear from a member of our board on their own personal experience with these topics as well.

4/21 Codependency/Enabling- In this lesson, we will seek to define codependency and enabling. We will build upon this information and identify and process different behaviors present that can create and bolster codependent relationships.

4/28 Self-Care/Self-Worth-This lesson will be working towards defining self-care and self-worth in general and also within the context of a family within dysfunction and addiction. We will define and identify behaviors and cognitive patterns that assist with addressing wellness in life and practice implementing positive, adaptive behavioral patterns.

5/19 Recovering from Codependency- This lesson will be working to define and process steps to healing codependency by overcoming denial, processing the cost of maintaining codependent patterns of behavior, defining a healthy relationship, and identifying healthy behaviors within a relationship. We will bolster our understanding and strengthening our or sense of self.

5/26 Emotional Sobriety- We will be summing up our series during this lesson through discussion and looking at ways to implement how one might manage their emotions in a healthy, adaptive manner. We will be looking to discuss ways we might regulate all parts of self, considering the information learned during our Ed Series such as, our ability to regulate our mood, our own harmful or unhelpful behaviors, our activity levels, our emotional connections, our ability to stay present in the here-and-now, and so on. We will also hear from a member of our board on their own personal experience with these topics as well.
